Today I watched the news and heard a fellow complain that people are not respectful of their senators and representatives at the recent town meetings... That they (we) need to listen to what they have to say... Something didn't set well with me about that and I have pondered it all day... We elect these men and women to protect us, to vote our interests, to REPRESENT us... Yet they meet behind closed doors and twist arms and have their arms twisted and strong arm and get strongarmed into voting against their constituents, and principles... And They may even be culprits of this ugly behavior... Yet we are supposed to respectfully listen to them when they come to town... YET they don't listen to us... What is this anyway?? I for one am tired of this... My Father in Law was on a waterboard... To bring water to the farms of Eastern North Dakota... They argued and discussed and never brought anything to a vote for at least 2 or three months... maybe even longer if there was anyone who had a reasonable objection... (i am talking board members here)... We were discussing some of the policies that some water districts have that folks are not happy with and he told us that all that was discussed... He had his objections to this and that.. And later (months later) when everyone had a chance to discuss with the community and think things through, they would vote... And they did things right... But congress writes bills that they don't have to ever live under and be saddled by for the rest of us and they add things on in the dead of night... and no one gets them read... they are just supposed to trust each other and we are supposed to trust them... Well, I know that they don't have my best interests at heart.... I know that they don't think my family is important... We don't give to their campaigns... we don't stuff their envelopes.. etc... And we are not movie stars, or have golf courses or money to give them for junkets... In fact I would go so far to say that they look down their high and lofty noses at my family and me... So why am I supposed to trust them?? I wish they would have 9 months of the year to live in the REAL world under the same laws the rest of us have to live with... And have 3 for fixing the problems and messes that they create. And keep their hands off my healthcare. My doctor, My family...
